In India, Colonel Nick Fury of SHIELD infiltrates a terrorist faction working with stolen mutant DNA. Fury, making full advantage of the high-tech weapons SHIELD’s loaded him with, makes quick work of dozens of armed soldiers, but is suddenly taken out an unknown force. General Ross of SHIELD orders Colonel Wraith to lead Weapon X on a rescue mission. Ross is horrified to learn that Wraith has attacked and captured the X-Men in order to bolster Weapon X’s ranks, but he does nothing about it.

In their cells, the X-Men bicker amongst themselves and the other prisoners of Weapon X. Jean tries to telepathically communicate with Nightcrawler, bridging the language barrier. Cyclops announces that he’s worked out three escape plans, but that means little when Beast is brought back from a session with Dr. Cornelius, whose enhancements – meant to increase his strength and agility, among other things – have left Hank covered looking like some kind of animal, not to mention covered in blue fur.

Weapon X – X-Men included – are quickly dispatched to both terminate whatever attacked Fury and to rescue him before he and his military secrets are auctioned off to terrorists. Meanwhile, though, Wraith decides to use Cerebro to track down members of the Brotherhood, including Wolverine, to further expand Weapon X.
