In the Academy library in Chicago, Doug Ramsey alerts Emma Frost to several scenes of camera footage taken by traffic cameras where Lorna lost control of her powers. The tape shows two men planting a device under a manhole cover. By (not quite legally) accessing SHIELD’s database, Ramsey identifies Forge, who used to work with Magneto. Emma immediately contacts Charles Xavier and asks for a meeting with General Fury to clear Lorna’s name.

Outside the Triskelion, various members of the Ultimates try to convice the X-Men to go home. Quicksilver mentions the fact that Lorna is sharing a cell with Magneto, and is chewed out by Captain America for divulging state secrets. Quicksilver apologizes, but adds that he thought Xavier would have told his students. Jean Gray comments that there seems to be lot that Xavier hasn’t told them.

As they near New York, Alex tells Jean-Paul that he’s pretty certain they can get past both the Ultimates and the X-Men and into the Triskelion to free Lorna. Inside the Triskelion, Magneto compliments Lorna on winning her first game, and apologizes for the fact that he will soon be leaving. Lorna points out that he’s serving multiple life sentences; she realizes he plans to escape. He offers her a place in the Brotherhood of Mutants. She protests that she’s not like him; he comments that polar opposites are necessary to keep things from spinning off center. She turns down the offer, and Magneto suddenly picks up a chair and hits her with it, telling her that she was just a means to an end.

Outside the Triskelion, Captain America hears a sonic boom; it’s Northstar and Alex. Alex blasts Quicksilver before he can react. Iceman targets Northstar, but freezes Captain America instead. Wasp zaps Iceman, but receives a mental blast from Marvel Girl. Iron Man tells the Scarlet Witch to do something about the telepath, and Jean suddenly finds herself standing in New Jersey. She calls Scott and his team to pick her up. While the fighting continues, Mystique and Forge begin to infiltrate the Triskelion. With most of the fighting over, Alex and Jean-Paul slow down long enough to talk. Iron Man tries to convince them to stop, but when he calls Lorna a “killer”, Alex blasts him and the Black Widow.

In flight overhead, Warren and Ali catch sight of the fighting, but choose to ignore it and concentrate on the Triskelion. They see Mystique and Forge breaking in. Across the river, Northstar tries to convince Colossus to join them. When Scarlet Witch suddenly prepares for another attack, Alex blasts both her and Colossus, then heads to the Triskelion. Inside, Mystique and Forge walk into Magneto’s cell. He picks up the unconscious Lorna and follows them out. On the level above, Warren and Ali walk through the cellblock containing Deathstrike, Longshot and the others. The building suddenly heaves, causing the cells’ containment fields to fail. One of Deathstrike’s fingers extends and stabs Ali through the stomach.
