The President meets with one of his aides and Xi’an Coy Mahn, a mutant Black Ops trainee.

At the X-mansion, Jean and Scott have a heartfelt talk, about Jean’s emerging Phoenix powers and their love for each other.

Inside the X-mansion, Professor X announces that a new mutant has emerged and is about to go public; he assembles a team to go talk with her. The mutant in question is the lead singer of the punk group Dazzler; after the band’s explosive performance, Scott, Kitty, and Colossus approach the singer. She’s harsh and rude, telling the X-men that whichever mutant group gets her band a record contract gets her as a member as well. When Scott questions her about other mutant groups interested in her, she brushes him off.

Back at the mansion, Storm masters making a small lightening bolt; when she excitedly goes to inform Beast, she finds his bedroom empty and cleaned out. The sky thunders with her anger.

The President meets with his Director of Intelligence and several other shadowy government officials. The encounter with Xi’an Coy Mahn earlier in the day had really just been an opportunity for her to mind scan the President; the Director informs that President that, thankfully, he is not under any mutant control. The Director suggests that the President distance himself from the X-men in the public eye and that getting a new batch of mutants might be the best thing for the White House to do. A woman named Emma Frost is brought in to help.
