Deep below the Triskelion, The Ultimates headquarters, Erik Lennsherr sits alone in a plastic prison, contemplating the deaths of The Ultimates and his future domination of the human race. An unexpected visitor arrives in the form of Charles Xavier, who Magneto grudgingly allows to enter. The two chat back and forth, and Erik is ashamed of the sorry state he has been reduced to.

In the Canadian wildneness, a lone figure stands against a charging grizzly bear. As the animal comes upon him, Logan thrusts his claws into it's chest, and begins to feed on it's raw flesh. Cyclops appears behind him, wondering why Logan is hunting grizzlies when there is a restaurant 15 miles away. Logan is surprised to hear that Cyclops has come to apologize, and offer him a place with the X-Men once again.

Underneath the Triskelion again, Erik criticizes Charles for joining forces with the U.S. Government, calling him a hypocrite. While appreciative of Xavier's desire to infiltrate the enemy, Erik claims that he knows humans will never change. Xavier asks Erik to be aware that their every word is being recorded. He goes on to explain that by joining S.H.I.E.L.D. there is an end to the hostility between the two forces, as well as the ability to take in any mutant arrested by S.H.I.E.L.D. Xavier then explains that Quicksilver and the Scarlet Witch are waiting outside, eager to make amends with their father. Erik is disgusted by his children, and claims the only thing of worth they ever did was almost kill their mother during childbirth. Xavier believes he only views them as weak because they were the result of an affair between Erik and a human woman. Erik calls for the guard to escort Charles out.

Despite Cyclops' offer, Wolverine doesn't believe he should return to the X-Men. He believes he's an animal and is only good for killing. He doesn't think he can repair his relationships with the other students, but Cyclops thinks that's exactly why he should return. He then gives Logan a small item that the X-Men located. A wedding ring with the words "To James with all my love". Cyclops summons the Blackbird and the two return to the mansion.

As Captain America arrives to escort Xavier out of Magneto's cell, Erik asks about Quicksilver's knees (which Magneto had shot weeks before). Xavier thanks the guards for their help, and he assures them that they won't remember any of the discussion that took place inthe plastic prison, and that he's fairly positive that the tapes have already been erased...
