Magneto’s floating citadel: Magneto steps down from his machine satisfied with what he has done. Meanwhile, outside, a mass of Air Force bombers begin a bombing run on the citadel. Their bombs, however, are unable to breach Magneto’s shield. Beginning his executions of the X-Men, Magneto lifts up Wolverine and begins twisting his skeleton. In the background Colossus begins to crawl towards Magneto, who comments on Colossus’ impressive will.. Now standing up, Colossus punches Magneto in the stomach, and smashes Magneto’s helmet.

At the Rainbow Falls generating plant, south of Miami, Florida, Magneto’s warhead has detonated. A giant explosion proceeds to destroy everything in its path as Xavier flies in with a fleet of Sentinels from Guantanamo Bay. Rogue tries to contain to the blast with telekinetic powers she obtained from another prisoner while Nightcrawler leads the evacuations.

Back the citadel; the X-Men begin their rapid-fire assault, keeping Magneto off balance until he is slammed into his machine. As the X-Men stand over a defeated Magneto, he decides it’s better to die then spend the rest of his days in a cage. Pulling a bomber out of the sky, Magneto attempts suicide, slamming the bomber right into his compound. Unfortunately for him, Magneto finds himself inside one of Jean’s telekinetic shields with Beast, who’s spent a long time with the school punching bag, waiting for this chance.

A physic image of Xavier appears, informing the X-Men that he, Rouge and Nightcrawler need help containing the blast. The X-Men try to figure out how to get up to Miami when Jean is suddenly possessed by the Phoenix, and blasts off towards Miami. Burrowing under the power plant, Jean lifts it high up into the sky. Back in Antarctica Wolverine guesses an apology isn’t going to work when it comes to what he’s done to Cyclops.
