Five miles below the surface, Wolverine and Cyclops track the bodies of the dead soldiers, while on the surface, Kitty tries to explain why she stowed away on the X-Jet to Professor Xavier. Professor Xavier is upset that Kitty has attempted to go on a mission despite having told her mother she would not participate in any X-Men missions. Xavier asks that as soon as she return she pack her bags and go home. While Beast prepares for his date with the illustrious "Naomi", the rest of the X-Men sit down to watch Bobby Drake's forced speech against the X-Men on TV. Instead of reading Senator Turk's prepared statement Bobby decides to speak the truth, and praised the Xavier Institute.
In the Savage Land, Cyclops and Wolverine are attacked by the posessed bodies of the dead Marines they were sent to locate. Wolverine goes berserk and manages to quickly take down the zombies. From a deep trench a huge android rises, dwarfing the two X-Men. The robot is the sentient remains of Magneto's supercomputer, which controlled Savage Land operations. Having almost been destroyed in the Sentinel attack, the computer pulled itself together and "mutated" in order to survive. Claiming dominance over both homo sapien and homo superior, the machine detailed plans to create a post -human race truly capable of surviving in the 21st century. Before it can kill the two, the giant machine begins to smoke and spark, and Kitty phases out of it, having come to warn the other two X-Men that a dinosaur was sniffing around the X-Jet. Her powers inadvertedly short circuit the electronics in the robot, destroying the machine and causing a huge explosion. As the entire cavern begins to come down around them the three make a run for the exit.
In New York, the Hellfire Club meets in shadow to discuss the events surrounding Jean Grey and her mysterious visions. Certain that Xavier has no idea of their plan, the Hellfire Club's leader, Sebastian Shaw, decides that, due to the upcoming astronomical alighment, it is time for the X-Men to meet the Hellfire Club.
