Near Land's End, Scotland, police make their way aboard a seemingly abandoned ship to located the nineteen year old son of geneticist Moira MacTaggert. The crew of the vessel is dead, and the police find David Xavier inhabiting the body of a local professor. David makes quick work of the police and makes a 100 yard leap to shore.

Two days earlier, Jean Gray and Ororo Munroe find themselves rollerblading through London on the first stop in Xavier's eight week promotional book tour. While gossiping over the latest school news, the pair finds a woman with a gun and go to work. Meanwhile, across town, Colossus, Iceman and Wolverine find themselves in a dance club sipping drinks, while Bobby tries to calm his furious parents. Unable to convince them he is safe at Charles Xavier's school, he lets Wolverine speak to them, but he has even worse luck.

The next morning at breakfast, Professor Xavier reviews the team's activities from the day before. Storm and Marvel Girl shut down a terrorist cell, Wolverine's group ended an internation drug ring, while and Cyclops and Beast defeated a gang of muggers. The Professor chooses to award Cyclops and Beast the winning grade. Later, the Professor and the X-Men arrive at a venue where the Professor is to give a speech. They are met with a legion of anti-mutant protesters, who throw bottles and bricks at the team.

The next morning the team finds that Colossus has checked out of his hotel room and left to the airport during the night accompanied by a man and woman. At the same moment Xavier receives a call from his ex-wife. Their son has escaped.
