Outside of the Weapon X compound Sabretooth decides to take advantage of the base’s code red status (having been attacked by the Brotherhood) and kill Wolverine while he has the chance.
Meanwhile, inside the compound, the Brotherhood has freed the X-Men and the other Weapon X prisoners and they make quick work of everyone standing in their way. Colonel Wraith asks Dr. Cornelius if they can use Xavier to bring them all back under control, but Cornelius explains that, without electricity, they no longer have control over Xavier. Wraith panics – knowing that world’s most powerful telepath would make short work of the entire operation – and puts three bullets in Xavier’s chest before he has the chance to wake up. Beast sniffs out Cornelius – thanks to the good doctor’s surgical “enhancements” – and finds him trying to save Xavier.
Back outside, Sabretooth gains the upper hand in his fight with Wolverine, temporarily knocking him out. He drags Wolverine to a nearby river, believing that drowning is the only clear way to kill someone with healing factors such as theirs. Wolverine, though, wakes up and stabs Sabretooth in the crotch before pulling the two of them over a waterfall.
The Scarlet Witch lures a number of troops into a canteen, asking Colossus to knock it down and kill them all. None of the Brotherhood believe he has the courage, but, to their surprise, he tries to. Unfortunately for them, Marvel Girl intervenes and says that she can’t let the X-Men commit murder since it goes against everything they’ve been taught. It takes a moment, but the other X-Men come to their senses and realize that she’s right. Storm, however, is still unconvinced and attacks the helicopter that Fury’s in. Nightcrawler teleports into it and rescues Wraith, saying that he’s ruined too many lives already. Wraith, obviously not moved, tries to shoot Nightcrawler, but is shot himself. By Nick Fury, who’s arrived at the base with hundreds of SHIELD agents proclaiming that they’re putting Weapon X out of business. Both the X-Men and the Brotherhood distrust Fury, but Wolverine convinces them that he’s being honest.
Back at the mansion, the professor, still recovering, tells Marvel Girl how proud he is of the X-Men, but most especially her and Beast. Marvel Girl says that she’s disappointed that Nightcrawler didn’t join them and that Rogue and Juggernaut left with the Brotherhood, but Xavier says optimistically that he believes that the Brotherhood, the Weapon X prisoners and Magneto will all join them one day. Marvel Girl, obviously shocked at the news that Magneto is alive, asks the professor what he means, but he drifts off to sleep.
