A gigantic monster bursts through the street in front of the Baxter Building, sent by Dr. Molekevic. Reed, Ben, and Johnny jump down to the street to fight it. During the fight, Reed discovers he can roll up into a super-elastic ball, and Johnny realizes he can’t throw fireballs. Ben knocks the monster back into the hole it came out of.

The United States Army arrives, and shoots Ben, thinking he’s a rogue mutant. The bullets bounce off him; it turns out Ben is bullet-proof. The army is called off by a Senior Baxter Building government official.

Ben, Reed, and Johnny venture into the hole where the monster fell, hoping to find some clues as to where Sue is. They reach the bottom, and Johnny lights up so they can see. They are surrounded by Molekevic’s ani-men…
