Johnny Storm's flames threaten to burn the entire floor of the Baxter Building. Ben Grimm finally throws Johnny out a window, in hopes that he can still fly and save himself. Magnificent Brute punches Ben and knocks him across the room. Ben gets up and returns the favor, sending Brute through a couple of walls. Brute’s fingers become claws and he stabs Ben, breaking through the rock-like skin. Threshold calls Brute away – she has found Seed Nineteen.

Seed Nineteen, who has taken on the form of a human female, is talking to Reed Richards. He realizes the conversation is happening entirely in his mind. Nearby, Susan Storm and her father are working on saving the alien's vehicle, known as Sky-Eater. The aliens break into the lab and take out Sue and Professor Storm. Meanwhile, on a New York City street, a second explosion heralds the appearance of Ravens, soldiers pursuing Threshold and her group.

Reed and Seed Nineteen talk. Seed Nineteen explains that the others with her are soldiers. They have stolen Tesseract from their enemy and made their way to Earth. Seed Nineteen also senses something ominous about Reed; she tells him that he is associated with a terrible weapon, but he hasn't created it yet.

Seed Nineteen interrupts her conversation with Reed when she senses the appearance of the Ravens, led by their commander, Gallowglass. Seed Nineteen tells Reed that he and her children will need each other to survive. Then she withdraws from his mind, after telling him to avoid touching Gallowglass.

Elsewhere in New York, Gallowglass and the Ravens confront police officers. Gallowglass drops his protective shield and allows a small amount of his skin to touch the air, and obliterates most of a city block.

At the Baxter Building, Threshold and her group decide that the Fantastic Four aren't enemies after all, and that Seed Nineteen made contact with Reed on purpose. Threshold actually apologizes to an angry Reed, who tells her Gallowglass is in the city and to leave the building. Johnny and Ben both still want a fight. Threshold shows Reed the damage that Gallowglass has done to the city, and asks to be taken to where the troops have landed. She explains that Gallowglass is here to take back Tesseract, who Threshold's party freed from prison. Sue, who has been speaking with the group's vehicle, says Sky-Eater will take them to Gallowglass, and she has also agreed to go.

In the park, Tesseract is awake and talking to someone. He suddenly attacks Vykni and goes to join Gallowglass and his troops. As the Fantastic Four and Threshold's group race to the park, Gallowglass' troops suddenly teleport away. The pursuers follow them through the portal – and into the mouth of a huge, space-faring creature.
