While Tony Stark and his latest celebrity fling are in space, they are interviewed by Larry King. Tony expresses his displeasure toward Dr. Bruce Banner’s non completion of the Super Soldier serum, which Banner hears.
Jan Pym and Steven Rogers visit Rogers’s old apartment in the neighborhood where he grew up. Now a slum, the apartment building is ravaged.
At the Triskelion, Hank Pym, also known as Giant Man, is alone, trying to impress the press while Betty Ross and Banner bicker over him not cracking the serum.
Flying to Norway, General Nick Fury and Banner attempt to recruit the self proclaimed Norse God of thunder named Thor. Thor, the leader of a new age cult quickly turns them down and the pair return to the Triskelion.
Weeks pass and fear of no super-villains to fight worry the team, they might be shut down. While talking about merchandising and movie casting, the Pym’s make fun of Banner and who would play him in the film, Banner overhears and runs off into the city.
Calling Betty from an alleyway, Banner reveals that he injected the Super Soldier serum into himself to jumpstart the Hulk for the team’s publicity, then passes out.
While in transit to the hospital, the ambulance holding Banner crashes and the Hulk bursts through, rampaging through the city to find Betty.
At the Triskelion, the Ultimates ready for their first mission, to bring down their own teammate.
