Thrown out of a helicopter at the end of the last issue, Banner finally transforms into the Hulk and attacks Captain America in retaliation for what Cap did to him in New York. Cap tells the Hulk that Kleiser has been messing with Betty Ross, and the Hulk turns his wrath on the Chitauri instead. All of the SHIELD support troops are told to fall back as Hulk and Kleiser tear into each other.
Black Widow and Wasp discover the alien bomb and call Iron Man down to help defuse it. As the Air Force finally shows up to help, Iron Man decides the bomb can’t be defused and forms a contingency plan: call Thor in to teleport the bomb to a place where the detonation won’t effect Earth. Widow protests, claiming Thor is just a mental patient and incapable of performing this feat. Iron Man disagrees. Thor teleports the bomb... elsewhere, much to the amazement of his colleagues.
Hulk gets the better of Kleiser in a way that ensures Kleiser is out of the way for good. However, now the Hulk is free to create his own brand of mass destruction, taking out the rest of the alien fleet. Hawkeye finally delivers the antidote to turn the Hulk back into Banner, although not without a few heart-stopping moments when it appears the antidote won’t work in time. We finally see Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch once the action is over, with Quicksilver again claiming they took part in the battle even though no one saw them.
With the battle won and over, Banner is again confined to a cell in the Triskelion, Janet Pym gets a call from her husband, and most of the Ultimates attend a party at the White House given in their honor. There are strong indications that Jan and Cap are moving to a closer relationship, and Widow has designs on Tony Stark.
