Danny Rand, known as Iron Fist, is getting a parole hearing. He explains his ability to focus his chi (life energy) into a point on his body; according to him, anyone can learn to do this with the proper training. Rand promises that he won’t use this power against another person again.
On the rooftop of a New York City building, Moon Knight is attacking Spider-man, accusing him of being everywhere there’s trouble. Spider-man fights back, throwing Moon Knight off him with a martial arts move. Moon Knight throws three of his quarter moon-shaped weapons at Spider-man, then moves in with his fists. As the fight continues, we see Elektra Nachios on another rooftop, watching the battle and reporting it to Wilson Fisk. She thinks it’s the real Spider-man fighting the Moon Knight, but with the full-body costume, it’s hard to tell. The arrival of the police gives Spider-man the distraction he needs to break off the fight and leave.
The next day, the Daily Bugle runs a story about Moon Knight’s appearance and Silvermane’s death. As J. Jonah Jameson and Joe Robertson argue about the Moon Knight headline, Ben Urich announces he knows who owns the burned warehouse – it’s Techster Incorporated, a division of Fisk Enterprises. Both Jameson and Urich are jubilant at having the information. Ben leaves to write the story, Jameson continues musing about the "Moonman" story. Moon Knight, Peter Parker corrects him; then, realizing he’s just revealed information he shouldn’t have, Peter covers by claiming the kids in school have been talking about the fight.
Still, Peter is relived that Moon Knight is taking the rap for the fire instead of Spider-man. The relief is short-lived, however, when he gets a call from his aunt wanting to know why he skipped school – again. She thinks it’s because of his break-up with Mary Jane Watson, and tells him they’ll talk that night after her wine class. A few cubicles over, Ben Urich has called Wilson Fisk for a statement on the burned warehouse. Fisk’s reply is barely printable.
Once again dressed as Spider-man, Peter finds himself at the Kingpin’s headquarters, musing about the fact that Fisk can apparently get away with anything, while Peter himself gets in trouble over every little thing that happens. Spider-man’s thoughts are interrupted by Elektra Nachios, who steps onto the roof and tells Spider-man that Fisk would like to speak to him. They share an elevator ride (as well as an awkward episode involving Elektra’s “feminine charms”), and find Fisk sitting down to a pizza. He invites Spider-man to join him. They discuss the difference in public opinion on them, and Fisk tells Spider-man that people hate him because they don’t want his help. People don’t want to be reminded that they themselves are “unspecial”. Spider-man replies that he doesn’t care what people think, and, after Fisk has made a few more comments on the subject, asks what Fisk wants from him. Fisk gives him a picture of Hammerhead and claims that he’s responsible for killing Allan Silvermane. Fisk suggests that Spider-man would be better served turning his attention away from Fisk and toward Hammerhead. Spider-man refuses. Fisk tells him to go see for himself what Hammerhead is doing.
