Two days before the present: Harry Osborn and Shaw stand in an underground bunker belonging to Norman Osborn. Harry's grandparents had bought the property in the 1950s. Norman Osborn had converted it into a lab later and concealed it from everyone. Harry sees all sorts of equipment, costumes, and jars of the Oz serum. He panics and flees up the stairs into the field outside. Shaw follows him, and has to use the words "Cellar door" to put him to sleep.

Harry wakes up in his home in New York. Shaw tells Harry they need to talk about Norman Osborn. The only person who knows where he is is Peter Parker. Harry doesn't understand why Peter would know. Shaw replies it's because Peter is Spider-Man. He insists that Harry needs to get his father back. Norman Osborn is dying because of what he did to himself, and needs to be rescued. Shaw can't go after Peter himself because SHIELD doesn't know Shaw exists and Shaw plans to keep it that way. He convinces Harry to call Peter.

Peter tells Aunt May he needs to go out again, but she refuses to let him. He explains that he and MJ are having problems that need to be discussed, and that Harry needs help. Aunt May warns him to stay away from Harry, but eventually tells him he can go out again if he wants.

The next day at school, MJ sees Peter as he's walking down the sidewalk. She calls to him, but he ignores her. It continues during class, when the teacher tells her to keep her eyes on her own test. Finally she locates him on the bleachers at lunchtime. She apologizes for not telling him about her relationship with Harry. Then she asks why he's been having problems with her. She asks if the problem is really Harry's dad. Harry has told her that Peter killed his father. MJ asks if it was self-defense. Peter insists that Norman Osborn isn't dead, just locked up. MJ can't understand why Harry would insist his father is dead. Peter can't understand why MJ didn't stay away from Harry as he asked her to. Finally Peter exclaims that Harry is nuts, and runs away down the bleachers.

At the Osborn home, we find out that Harry has skipped school. Shaw insist that he go so he can make contact with Peter. Harry protests, but is interrupted by a voice on the ceiling. It's Spider-Man, and he wants to know who Harry is talking to. Harry appears to be alone. But in the next panel, we see Shaw beside Harry, berating him for telling Peter that Spider-Man killed his father. Shaw, who we can only see from Harry's perspective, insists that Harry was there during the experiment that turned Norman Osborn into the Green Goblin -- an experiment that apparently turned Harry into something as well.
