The plane carrying Otto Octavius, a pilot and a captured Spider-Man has landed in Brazil. However, Spider-Man apparently is no longer on board. As Octavius stares at the landing field, Spider-Man swings in and knocks him out of the plane. Furious that Octavius has kidnapped him, beaten him and forced him onto a flight to who knows where, Spider-Man pounds on him. Finally, after discovering that he’s outside the U.S., Spider-Man manages to subdue Octavius—just in time to take on airport security, most of whom speak no English. Finally a woman approaches who does speak English. Peter explains that yes, he really is Spider-Man, that he and the pilot were kidnapped by Otto Octavius, and that he needs to go home. The pilot confirms his story. The woman, who turns out to be a police captain, wants to hold them both, but Spider-Man manages to jump onto a plane that’s taking off, leaving security to tie Octavius up.
Spider-Man takes refuge in the baggage compartment and, because of the cold, breaks into a few suitcases looking for warmer clothing than his costume (apologizing aloud as he does so). Later that night, the plane lands in Atlanta, Georgia and he stows away in a trunk labeled for Newark, New Jersey. As the second plane lands in Newark, he breaks out of the trunk, grumbling about the fact that no other superhero has to go through things like this. When the compartment door opens, he flees, running through the terminal and causing a scene, as he’s dressed in several layers of clothing, including a Santa hat. Aunt May happens to be in the terminal as he runs by.
He catches a ride on the top of a bus as Aunt May gets into a taxi, and it’s a race to see who gets home first. Peter makes it by several minutes, jumping from one vehicle to another and then over the neighbor’s roof. He lets himself into the basement, relieved to be home, and finds himself face to face with Gwen Stacy, who’s holding a gun on him. She accuses him of killing her father.
