Gwen Stacy is looking out the window of the Parker home at the various vans and people on the street. Having been a police captain’s daughter, Gwen knows a few things about surveillance techniques, and she knows the house is being watched. Suddenly people scramble into the vans and drive off.

In New York, Spider-Man is facing off against Doctor Octopus on the set of the Spide-Man movie. In the course of the battle, Octavius calls Spider-Man “Parker”, but the movie staff only hears the “—er” part over the noise. Spider-Man keeps up his signature running commentary, wondering where Octavius escaped from (the place is in need of a security upgrade, he comments), how he got the arms back, and why the arms haven’t been chopped up into little pieces. Octavius finally has Spider-Man helpless when a movie stunt double smashes a piece of equipment over Octavius’ head. As Octavius deals with the new threat, Spider-Man frees himself and the fight continues.

Meanwhile, Gwen answers the doorbell to find Mary Jane Watson outside. MJ’s mother has finally thrown her father out of the house, and MJ is no longer grounded. She’s come to visit Peter, who, of course, is not home. Gwen thinks he’s at work. She and MJ are sitting down to watch television when a live news report begins, showing Spider-Man at the Lincoln Tunnel. MJ hurriedly leaves.

Ocatvius and Spider-Man have battled their way into the Lincoln Tunnel, where Octavius is having an ongoing conversation with the arms while they fight. A cab driver is actually video taping the fight when Spider-Man’s spider sense goes off. Octavius manages to knock him out. He wakes up later, duct-taped to a seat in the passenger compartment of a plane, heading for parts unknown.
