A homeowner finds Dr. Otto Octavius at his door. Octavius tells him he likes the man’s house. The man turns to find Octavius’ mechanical arms coming at him.

Elsewhere, various people are auditioning for the Spider-Man movie, each speaking the line, “Look up in the sky, it’s Spider-Man” with varying degrees of talent and enthusiasm. Finally Kong is told that he’s gotten the part – he’s in the movie. At school, Kong is telling everyone about his part and getting different reactions, until suddenly Gwen Stacy asks if there’s a part in the script where Spider-Man kills her father. Then she runs off in tears. Mary Jane sends Peter to talk to her. Gwen is furious that someone in a Spider-Man outfit killed her father, but they’re still making a movie about the character anyway. MJ consoles Peter with the reminder that he’s not responsible for Captain Stacy’s death, but Peter complains that Kong is making more money off this movie that he himself is, and he really wants to find a villain to beat up.

In the living room of the home he now occupies, Octavius is talking to the mechanical arms. He plans to stay away from both his ex-wife and Peter Parker, because he knows that both will be under surveillance after his escape. Octavius plans to punish Peter eventually, but his discussion is cut short when one of the arms turns up the volume on the television. The announcer is, of course, talking about the movie being filmed, and begins an interview with Octavius’ ex-wife. Using the arms, Octavius smashes the television.

Gwen is walking home, and notices several vans and a lot of people watching the house. The phone rings; Aunt May is checking in. Gwen tells her everything is all right, but quickly hangs up afterward, still watching the area outside. In New York, filming is continuing, with Kong uttering his epic one line of dialogue. As the scene ends, Avi Arad comments that Spider-Man has been sitting on a building watching them. A man dashes up and tells Arad and Sam Raimi that Octavius is said to have escaped from prison and that the government has a huge manhunt in progress. Octavius’ ex-wife is on location, and naturally, Octavius appears. Spider-Man jumps down from the building and confronts Octavius.
