An unnamed pop music diva passes crowds of adoring fans, then hops into her limo, only to find herself surrounded by kidnappers. They call her agent and demand a ransom, but Spider-Man, in a dark new outfit, lands on the limo roof and tears it open. He knocks out the kidnappers, webs the diva’s mouth shut to stop her from screaming, and brings the limo to a screeching halt next to a school bus. After assisting the diva out of the car, he swings off, musing happily about the abilities of the new suit, which is a combination of his old outfit and the “cancer suit” his father had been working on. He can now absorb bullets and shoot webs made of the same goo as the suit.
As he’s thinking, he stumbles across The Shocker in a standoff with police. Spider-Man goes on the offensive; The Shocker’s devices have virtually no effect on him in the new suit. Once The Shocker is subdued, Spider-Man takes off, leaving a television reporter commenting about the new look.
A few blocks away, a gunman shoots another man and takes off. The witnesses point Spider-Man in the direction in which he fled, and Peter goes in pursuit. Cornering the man in an alley, Spider-Man captures him, but in the midst of the fight, Peter has a flashback to his uncle’s death. He accuses the man of killing his uncle, and suddenly the new suit transforms into a monster with a mouthful of fangs and a long forked tongue – Venom.
The monster begins to choke the gunman, ranting at him. Inside Venom’s mouth we catch a glimpse of Peter’s eyes and teeth as he reacts in horror to the thing his suit has become. He throws the gunman to one side and flees, grappling with the suit as he tries to tear it off. He sees memories of people and events in his life as he runs through the city. At last he lands across a set of electric lines that shock the suit into dissolving. Peter lands in the cemetery, in front of a tombstone of his parents and Uncle Ben.
