Captain George Stacy and a few of his deputies are at a cop convention arguing weather he should start with a joke at the speech he is going to make at it. Suddenly the three of them hear an explosion. They draw their guns and run to the scene where the Spider-Man Impostor is on top of a destroyed rinks car and holding a guard ready to hit him. The three point their guns and Captain Stacy tells him to drop the guard and put his hands over his head.

In school Peter is sitting at his desk, sick due to his wounded shoulder. The teacher notices this and sends him to the nurse. Peter travels to his locker where he finds a note telling him to go to the black van in the parking lot where he’ll get his shoulder fixed. Peter goes to the van where he finds Janet Van Dyne aka the Wasp, a member of the Ultimates. She tells Peter that Nick Fury sent her. She produces a syringe, which contains a fluid that will increase his already increased healing factor.

Peter is walking down the road with Gwen and MJ, surprisingly feeling much better. Gwen figures out that Peter and MJ are an item when suddenly they se police cars parked outside Peter’s house. Peter runs frantically to the house only to find his Aunt is okay but is sitting next to two officers who all looked depressed. Gwen and MJ enter the room and Gwen is handed her father’s badge. He is dead.

Ben Urich is interviewing witnesses about the Spider-man incident with the rinks car. The people give their different accounts. The Impostor tried to escape and Captain Stacy and his men opened fired. One of the shots hit the Impostor’s backpack, which was full of explosives. The backpack had caught alight and the Impostor threw it away. The backpack flew at a young boy who was quickly thrown out of the road by Captain Stacy. The Captain fell back on one of the police cars and the backpack landed in his arms then exploded.

Gwen, MJ and Peter are all sitting on the roof of Peter’s house. Peter tries to comfort Gwen but fails. Gwen then tells them she wants to be left alone. The next day at the Daily Bugle, J. Jonah Jameson frantically gets Ben to go to a crime scene where the Impostor is robbing a jewellery store. Peter over hears the conversation and runs out of the Bugle. Peter swing, dressed as Spider-Man, to the store and smashes through the window. He then sees his Impostor standing in the middle of the room, surrounded by fearing customers, with a hostage.
