The story starts in Peter's living room and he seems to have a look of annoyance on his face as the Kraven the Hunter promo is on T.V.. Kraven has just made a claim he is going to kill Spiderman and this does not start him off to a great day. At Kraven's Manhattan apartment, he is talking to his agent about how he has handled the promotion for the Spiderman battle and he is quite upset about the cheap theatrics of it all. The agent just worms his way out of a very threatening situation and explains that all Kraven needs to do is hunt, he will do the rest. One week later at Midtown High, Peter's class is in a heavy discussion about the Nixon/Kennedy debate when the school principal walks into class to escort Gwen Stacy. She then proceeds to apologize to her entire class about the incident before involving Peter and Kong. Gwen also trys to get an apology out of Kong but it is quite clear that won't be happening. The teacher asks if anybody has questions about the "Be a Superhero" assignment and Liz Allen speaks up to show she is upset about the whole thing. The teacher asks if anyone else has an opinion about it and Gwen raises her hand to which the Teacher ignores her. Peter and Mary Jane are very impressed by this new girl.

In a limousine riding through New York, Justin Hammer is having a conversation with Dr. John Skrtic about current projects and he shows him the latest test subject, Flint Marko A.K.A. Sandman. The good doctor explains that Sandman is having trouble adjusting to his new change and recommends going to S.H.I.E.L.D. for help. Hammer fins the recommendation absurd and quickly disconnects the video conference. Soon after, Hammer is on a New York City dock about to open up a a new power plant that will provide affordable energy to the people of New York. Justin Hammer then gets asked questions about rumours of a project similar to the one that Norman Osborn was doing before his accident. Ben Ulrich then asks what the relation to him and doctor Octopus. Hammer just denys knowing him but at the same moment a very large picture of Doc Ock looms over Hammer in the background.

Peter is at a school assembly talking about the Kraven the Hunter show and how some of it will be filmed at their very own school. Suddenly there is an announcement that a problem is happening in New York and Peter takes off. He hitches a ride with a helicopter and and crashes into the Power Plant where he comes face to face with the infamous doctor Otto Octavious once again.
