The story starts off with Otto Octavious talking to someone between pieces of broken glass. He seems to be blaming the person in question who turns out to only be a picture of Justin Hammer, the employer who sent Octavious into Osborn Industries for industrial Espionage. Otto swears vengience and begins destroying everything in sight. The next day Peter is on his break at the Daily Bugle and stops to watch a set of T.V.'s. He see's a rather large man with a Australian accent who says his name is Kraven the Hunter. Kraven is boasting about coming to Manhattan to hunt his greatest prey yet but does not say who.

Peter doesn't give it a second thought and continues on with his, worrying about more important things like Dr.Octopus. Peter runs into Ben Urich who is trying to get in touch with Captain John Stacy. At that exact moment, Captain Stacy happens to be talking to his daughter about the incident the other day in school were she pulled a knife on a fellow student. Gwen defends her actions and Captain Stacy is still trying to find the reason but is interrupted by a phone call. The caller is Ben Urich and he has some information for Captain Stacy about Otto Octavious. Captain Stacy seems to take the info lightly and runs out after Gwen who has left the room were 2 federal agents are waiting to talk to him about Otto Octavious.

Back at the Daily Bugle Ben is seemingly upset about getting hung up on. Robbie Robertson walks into the room to assign a story about a man reportedly crawling along the side of Hammer Towers with 4 big mechanical arms. Peter immediately runs off to Hammer's building after hearing this and has found Justin Hammer and the 2 federal agents. They are inquiring about the break in earlier and inform him who the man who broke in was. Mr.Hammer acts like he doesn't know the man but the agents, who turn out to be from S.H.I.E.L.D., seem to know something different. Suddenly the agents spot Spiderman and fire at him and he takes off.

Just that moment, a plane has landed and Kraven the Hunter walks off. He reveals to the press that he has come to America to kill the one called Spiderman with his bare hands.....
