Powers: Bobby Drake possesses the ability to freeze any moisture in the air around him into unusually hard ice. He can also lower his external and internal body temperature without harm to himself, thereby radiating intense cold.
History: Bobby Drake was just a regular 15 year old, growing up in the peaceful suburbs of New York... His life was shattered when his mutant abilities manifested. Bobby took to the streets to protect himself and his family from the mutant hunting robots known as the Sentinels.
Professor Charles Xavier located Bobby using the psychic amplifier Cerebro and sent the X-Men, his newly formed mutant task force, on their first mission. The X-Men found Bobby alone and scared on a bus in downtown New York City. Apparently Xavier wasn't the only one who found Bobby. Before the X-Men could offer Bobby a place by their side he was attacked by a pack of Sentinels. Cutting it close, Hank McCoy, AKA the Beast, rescued Bobby from the bus before it was destroyed by the Sentinels. Just as a decapitated Sentinel was toppling over onto a group of innocent bystandards, Bobby took action and froze the robot in mid-fall, saving the bystanders below and giving the Beast a good reason to christen him "The Iceman!" However, that didn't stop the bystanders from hurling glass bottles and bricks at the "mutie freak."
Bobby has proved to be a valuble member of the team, and has played his part in the rescue of the President's daughter in Croatia, and the invasion of the Sentinel's in Washington, D.C. After a short vacation Bobby returned to his home on Long Island, where he reunited with an old girlfriend. In order to impress the young girl, Bobby told her all he knew about the X-Men and Xavier's school. Unfortunately, fearing that this could compromise the X-Men's security, Professor Xavier was forced to wipe Bobby and his friend's memories of the conversation.
