Powers: Pietro has the ability to run at supersonic speeds. He has adapted to running at high speeds, and has a sped up thought process, metabolism, and heart rate.

History: Pietro Maximoff is the son of the genetic terrorist known as Magneto, and brother to the hex-casting Scarlet Witch. Always looking to impress his father, Pietro has offered to kill his most hated enemy, Professor Charles Xavier, multiple times. After the Sentinel's seige on the Savage Land, Pietro was fed up, and ran to Washington, D.C. to join the fight against the killer androids. Resentful, Quicksilver removed his father's helmet -- the only thing protecting him from Xavier's telepathy. Xavier used his abilities to transform Magneto into a powerful electromagnet, resulting in his demise.

Afterwards, Quicksilver and his sister Wanda took on the U.S. Government, who were puportedly transporting the body of their dead father to a research center for examination. Iceman, Colossus and Cyclops intervened, hoping to offer the twins a home with Xavier. The twins refused, and broke into the armed vehicle carrying their father -- only to be disappointed. The only item in the transport was Magneto's telepathy-blocking helmet.
