Powers: Has large feathered wings that protude from his back. Coupled with hollow bones, he has the ability to fly and also carry a passenger.
History: Warren Worthington III joined the X-Men when his parents, who could not cope with his very visible mutation that began once he hit puberty, payed Charles Xavier to become his legal guardian. When Warren arrived at the mansion, he caused quite a fuss amongst the students. Rogue felt that this was an example of an angel and was a sign of something bad to come. This feeling was reciprocated by many religious groups who discovered Warren through Beast's website. In this fuss, Angel mistook the students looks of awe for looks of disgust, and hastily left the Institute. Storm eventually persuaded him to return, using his attraction to her to help her bring him back. On his return, he confronted the religious demonstraters and informed them that he was merely a mutant.
He then became a part of the team, sparring with Wolverine to enhance his combat skills and also aiding the team in a fight with a Sentinel on the Capitol Steps. He stood up to Sinister when he invaded the mansion, and was lucky to survive after being hypnotically commanded to 'Choke himself'. He also became firm friends with Nightcrawler, a fellow mutant with a very visible mutation. These two often played in the Danger Room, indulging in their fantasy adventures. He also discovered his rebellious nature, joining Dazzler, Nightcrawler and Colossus on a unsanctioned mission to Krakoa to free Longshot. However, Angel chose to stay with the X-Jet and this proved to be a bad decision as he was captured and pinned to a wall via his wings by Mojo and his men. Saved and brought back to the mansion, he and his fellow renegades were told the ringleader would be expelled. Angel took the blame for Dazzler, earning her respect and the two began dating.
Both Angel and Dazzler were left behind by the team during a prison break at the Triskelion, but they rebelled once more and went to try and help their comrades. As they ventured through the Triskelion, Lady Deathstrike attacked them and severly injured Dazzler, putting her in a coma. Once the ordeal was over, Angel offered to leave the X-Men for disobeying Professor Xavier's orders again. Xavier agreed, and expelled Angel. However, this was just a front for Angel to infiltrate the Academy of Tomorrow to keep an eye on Emma Frost. He would be allowed to return in the future and as part of the agreement, Dazzler keeps her place at the Institute. He kept in touch with the X-Men such as Colossus by phone. He got a chance to see his teammates again when the Brotherhood of Mutants attacked the academy on their Homecoming Dance. Tricked by Mastermind, he actually attacked his teammates before being knocked out. He also has competition for Dazzler's attention, as it has been revealed that Nightcrawler also has feelings for her.
