Powers: Ability to transform her skin into a diamond hard substance.

History: A former student of Charles Xavier's and schoolteacher from Chicago, she in fact was much more than a student to Xavier. She left, however, after a falling-out with him years ago. In Chicago, the governor supported her mutant education seminars that she had been running and introduced her to the President's chief of staff. Through him, she met the President and helped to organize the New Mutants program, a program designed to educate humans about mutants, not to start a war, while also not having any ties to Charles Xavier. The team she put together consisted of Alex Summers, brother of Scott Summers, Hank McCoy, former X-Man, Xi'an Coy Mahn, AKA Karma, who was actually a mole for Nick Fury, and Dazzler.

After failing miserably at defending Washington from an attack by a rogue Sentinel during the team's premier, the group was disbanded. Back at the school, Xavier tried to convince her to stay after she admitted that the whole thing is 'not her world'. Emma is unsure though, and seems more intent on the group of Hellions that she is putting together back at home.
