Powers: Flint can turn his body into a physical body of sustainable sand. He can extend the length and size of any part of his body in sand form.
History: Flint Marko was a criminal. He tried to rob a Brink’s car but failed, he ran home and beat up his girlfriend in rage of what happened earlier. When the police arrived Flint beat up one of the officers who was put into hospital and eventually died. This sent Flint to 50 years at Rykers’ Prison.
After a while Flint somehow managed to get into the custody of Justin Hammer. Flint was subjected to the project called Sandman and was subjected to various experiments. After the ongoing experiments Flint was able to turn his physical form into a sustainable sand form.
After the intense battle between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus, S.H.E.I.L.D. agents Sharon Carter and Woo arrived on the scene along with a couple of team members. After infiltrating the building and finding Flint, Sharon opened the room that Flint was held in and asked what happened to him. Flint responded by trusting vast amounts of sand into Sharon and the other agents. Flint escaped the building only to be met by Spider-Man who taunted and batted the Sandman. Flint gained the upper hand but was struck by the blast of a specially made sonic gun, which was held by one of the scientists. Flint was knocked unconscious and taken into custody of S.H.E.I.L.D. where he met Norman Osborn, Otto Octavius, Electro and Kraven the Hunter. Flint had undergone a series of therapy lessons from Dr. Hank Pym. Finally, with Otto’s help the five escaped the building. They all took refuge in one of Wilson Fisk’s summerhouses. Norman offered a proposition to kill Nick Fury and all his teammates. He also stated that he would blackmail the president of the United Sates for 1 billion dollars. Sandman agreed along with the rest of them.
Flint along with Electro and Norman broke into the S.H.E.I.L.D. facility and captured Spider-Man who was held there at the time. Norman blackmailed Peter into working for them and they became the Ultimate Six. Nick Fury and his Ultimates tracked down the six and a raging battle endured. Sandman faced off with Iron Man, which resulted into a ferocious battle. Iron Man uploaded the ‘Sandman’ file and blasted Sandman’s head. This resulted into Sandman losing control to stabilize in his sand form making him explode into sand. Flint Marko was taken in by S.H.E.I.L.D. and was stored in several glass jars.
